Benchmarks
| Benchmark | Score | Config | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| GenEval | ≈0.66 | Schnell-specific GenEval is not published; this is the FLUX.1 [dev] figure it is distilled from (third-party comparisons report ~0.66-0.71 depending on sampling). Schnell should be expected to score at or slightly below dev. | independent ↗ |
Operator guidance
Route here when speed and cost per image dominate and top-tier fidelity isn't required. Step up to FLUX.1 [dev]/[pro] for higher fidelity, or to DALL·E 3 for the strongest prompt following and in-image text.
Use cases
- Rapid iteration and concepting where throughput beats peak fidelity
- High-volume, low-cost generation (thumbnails, option sets, feeds)
- Interactive / near-real-time UX
Provenance notice
- Open weights with no built-in content-provenance metadata (no C2PA/watermark by default)
- Base training-data composition not publicly disclosed by Black Forest Labs
Limitations
- Distillation trades away some fine detail and diversity versus FLUX.1 [dev]
- No separately published GenEval / T2I-CompBench / FID for schnell specifically — the geneval score above is still borrowed from FLUX.1 [dev]. A genuinely schnell-specific independent score does now exist on a different benchmark: Artificial Analysis Text to Image Arena (artificialanalysis.ai/image/leaderboard/text-to-image, confirmed 2026-08-19, SCO-462 sweep) ranks 'FLUX.1 [schnell]' #123 of ~147 models tracked, Elo 1000 — notably below FLUX.1 [dev]'s own Elo 1041 on the same arena, consistent with the distillation tradeoff already noted above
- Weaker than DALL·E 3 on complex compositions and legible text
